Too Many People Fighting and Hating Over Politics, Religion, and Sports

This morning I was sitting with my coffee and looking at Facebook. I saw the name Ryan Newman coming up a lot. Everyone is praying for him and saying how sorry they are. Would you believe I had no idea who Ryan Newman was? I had to do a search

I did a search for the name and found that Ryan is a NASCAR racer who was in a bad crash. I am sorry to hear about anyone who is hurt and I wish only the best for him. I mean no disrespect to him or his fans. I just did not know who he was.

I have never had the slightest interest in watching sports. I have always wondered why nearly everyone else seems to love it. Why do so many of those fans get fighting mad if you say anything bad about their favorite team? People will actually get into fist fights and hate each other over sports!

It's just about as bad, if not worse, than politics. Click to read the comments when someone shares a meme or webpage about the President or other political figure. People are getting very angry. They are cussing each other and calling each other stupid. Some sound like they are ready to kill. Now, I'm not talking just about your friends list but if you look at a meme you can see the comments on the original post. And most of us have seen the footage from the previous Presidential Election. All the violence and hate on both sides

A few years ago I posted that I was glad basketball season was over so I could stop seeing so much about UK (The University of Kentucky Wildcats) No kidding, a lot of people got mad. There were several people who sent me hateful messages and a couple of those were ones who I had thought were real friends. One guy was even said he wanted to meet me and kick my ass!

It's certainly not limited to sports and politics. I shared a webpage that explained about the ancient pre-christian origins of Easter. I am not against having fun on Easter. We always dye eggs, hide and hunt, make Easter baskets and so on with our kids. But I have this idea that it is good to know the truth about things whenever we can. And it is easy to learn the truth about the history behind our holidays.

So, I shared the website and wrote a comment about the origins of Easter. There was a "good Christian woman" who was always posting Bible verses and "Jesus Loves You" and talking about going to church. This woman sent me a message and cussed me and called me names saying I had no right to try to take a beautiful holiday and ruin it for people. I was stunned at first but then I just thought it was hilarious. She then unfriended me which was fine.

Why do 30,000 Plus People Die On Our Highways Every Year?

Its no wonder that so many people are killed and maimed on our roads and highways. Every time I go down the road I see IDIOTS. And yes, that is what they are.

I am doing just over 60 down 32 and a little car comes barreling up on us. I see it coming in the rear view and closing in fast. After just a few seconds of riding my bumper the car jumps over to the other lane and starts coming around to pass me. This is a very curvy double yellow line area! The car gets almost alongside us and then a truck is coming at us in the opposite direction. The little white car hits their brakes and drops back behind us to ride our bumper all the way into town. Eventually the car passes us and it looked like a kid driving it. I am guessing less than 20 years old but not sure. All this time there were 3 vehicles in front of us and they were no more than 10 feet away from each other! Going down the road at nearly 65 mph and following a mere few feet from each other.

You cant leave the house and go to the grocery store and back without seeing these idiots.

Yesterday I saw a black pickup truck almost slam into the back of this van. They were in a 35 mph zone (old 60 by certified and Hot Rods) and I am sure that truck was doing better than 50. He hit his brakes so hard the backend went up and the nose went down and he was just a foot or two behind her. I was at a stop sign waiting to pull out and saw it all plain as day. If it were left up to me I would take these licenses away and make them WALK.

Just a little while after that we were all on our way home and I had to run off the road because a Pepsi truck was on the wrong side of the road! The driver side wheels were completely across the yellow lines on OUR side of the road.

Am I exaggerating? No not a bit!

No Help For You If You Waste Money On Tobacco Or Alcohol

Should Welfare Recipients be Tested for Tobacco and Alcohol?

I have been hearing a lot lately about how folks think welfare recipients should be drug tested before they can continue to get their so-called hand outs.

The supposed logic here is that if folks can afford to use drugs they shouldn't get assistance. OK, lets follow that logic on a bit and see where it goes...

Look at how expensive tobacco is! Following the "drug test or no help" logic... If folks can afford to buy cigarettes should they get help or assistance? I mean, hey, if mom and dad smoke they can easily spend in excess of $200 in a single month! And what about booze? If a couple both drink and smoke it can easily run into hundreds of dollars every month.

There is evidence to indicate that drugs, tobacco and alcohol aren't the only things people are wasting their money on!

  • What if they spend too much money on lottery tickets at the store?
  • What if they spend too much money eating out at restaurants?
  • What if they are wasting money on fuel driving to places where they don't really need to go?
  • What if those people are buying plastic "Made In China" junk from Wal-mart that they have no real use for?

There's one in the spotlight! He don't look right to me! Get him up against the wall!

Hmmm, perhaps we need to have everyone tested for everything and keep a detailed list of what they buy so we can determine whether or not they deserve help. Just be careful and don't spend too much on extras like salt and sugar or gravy because "they" may not be watching you all the time but they have folks writing everything down!

I can see a young lady sitting in an office nervously waiting for word about her medical card or food stamp application while the clerk looks over her files on her computer. The clerk, with tightened lower lip and stern judging eyes, talks to her about all the money she has wasted at restaurants, getting her hair done, dry cleaning, and all the wasted gas out joy riding, smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo... Well, anyway I am sure that most of you get it loud and clear.

The truth is that "they" aren't really concerned about the actual drug use (which is a sad thing). No, they are only interested in it because it is something they can grasp and use to reduce the money spent on these programs. It is like a feather in their hat. It is a flag that they can wave around while they say something like:
"Look, we are saving money. We are reducing the money we have been wasting on the poor and unfortunate."

It is all so some politician can stand up and say:
"the blah blah state budget has been relieved of $50,000,000! Look at me! Aint I just dandy? You sure are lucky you voted for me!"

Meanwhile they will go on to waste and squander our money and resources in the usual manner. And every year billions and billions worth of Federal Reserve notes and perks will be handed out to the rich via subsidies and other sweet back room deals while they cry:

"It's the social welfare programs! They are breaking us up!"

Maybe it is time to get the politics and the games out of government? And while we're at it let's get the stink out of poop!

Come on what do you think? Everyone's opinions will be approved unless you use profanity or hate/insult/irrelevant. Disagree as you may but don't forget there is a slight bit o' humor here so don't get too picky.

Beware That Old Talking Tree Leaner

I was out for a walk in the backwoods this morning and decided to go on as far as the headwaters of the lake. As I was getting to where I was in sight distance of the water I saw an old man leaning against a tree ahead in the distance. I walked on a bit getting closer to the guy and as I did I started becoming concerned. Was this old dude dead out here? Just stuck there against a tree? I walked on but more slowly. He was less than fifty feet ahead and I slowed down even more. It got to the point where I was barely moving because of the dread of what I would find. I thought about going around a different way.

But, what if he is still alive and I can get help?

I was standing about three feet away and that was when I decided I was going to turn around and...

"Howdy!" A bright welcoming voice but I still winced at the sound of it.

I turned back around and the old dude was looking at me, still leaning in against the tree. "Are you alright?" I asked.

He raised up off of that tree, wrinkled up his eyebrows and put his hand up under his chin. He looked up and off to the heavens somewhere and worked his jaws and lips as he seemed to put every ounce of his energy into thought.

After about 3 minutes of that he looked at me with crystal clear eyes full of understanding and knowledge and said, "What?"

He leaned back his head a bit and his eyes widened. I was thinking of Marty Feldman doing Igor in Young Dr Frankenstien.

Well it was obvious that this was some nut and now I was starting to worry about whether or not he might have a weapon or even some contagious disease. I was going to get out of there! I turned around and took about three steps, slowly listening, I don't know why. Maybe it was that same feeling you have when you are trying to sneak away from that baby who has finally fallen asleep.

I Met Her In The Kitchen There By The Time Clock OR So Long Paintsville Shoney's!

It had been exactly 7 years since the day we first met, since the first day I had looked into her eyes. Now, here we were plus 2 children and it was time again to celebrate "mommy and daddy's special day." Yes, we have always included the whole gang.

We went to Wendy's. I placed the order and the first thing they did was to put our fries on the tray on the counter. Several minutes went by as I waited there for our sammidges and other stuff. Finally she brought them up to the counter. I picked up a fry and bit it. I said, "excuse me but can we get fresh fries? These have been sitting here so long they're actually cold." No problem, they replaced the fries.

The "Spot" these days is covered by a Wendy's
I took everything to the table and we started setting it all out. She took a bite of her chicken sandwich and it was a bit raw in the middle. I took it back to the counter and asked for a manager. He asked me if I wanted a new chicken sandwich or a different one. I told him that I would like to have the entire meal replaced. By the time they got the sandwich made all our food would sitting on the table and all that. Then she would be eating her chicken sandwich after everything else had gotten cold or we would all eat and then be waiting for her to and so on.

The Little Red Hen Modern and Updated

The Little Red Hen - Modern Version

Once upon a time, on a farm in Texas, there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered quite a few grains of wheat.

She called all of her neighbors together and said, "If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?"
"Not I," said the cow.
"Not I," said the duck.
"Not I," said the pig.
"Not I," said the goose.

"Then I will do it by myself," said the little red hen. And so she did; The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.
"Who will help me reap my wheat?" asked the little red hen.

"Not I," said the duck.

You Pay For This But They Give You That (Those Darn Crooks and Liars!)

"You pay for this but they give you that..." ~ Neil Young

Here is the delicious looking snack I saw and which caused me to decide to order. Mmmm mmmm! Look how good that looks!

When they brought my plate of chicken and fixins out and set it on the counter I was a little stunned. In that plate were the tiniest peices of chicken I had seen since I was a kid and we had baney roosters running around in the yard!

I asked the lady to please exchange that chicken for some bigger peices. I pointed up at the menu and remarked about how big and juicy the chicken in the pictures was.

She mumbled something, took the plate and went back top the chicken cabinet. What she brought back out to me was a bit bigger but not much. What I got was definitely not even close to the mouth watering picture.

AND look at the size of that ole biscuit!

So what do y'all think? Should a restaurant be able to do this to us? Why should they be allowed to "sell you this but give you that'?? It should be illegal and fines should be slapped on McDonals, FKC and any other crap business who practices this.

Make it stop! write your congressman, call your friends, shout it from the roof tops and post it on Facebook! We've had enough of the lies! I want that juicy chicken dinner that I see in that picture!

A Hillbilly in New York City

I was working in Brooklyn and met up with this guy who was from Staten Island. I am serious, this guy said he had never been out of New York City. I saw him and some of his crew in passing as I was working. We exchanged a few words here and there and so naturally they took to calling me hillbilly.

As I was walking by where they were taking lunch one day this guy said, "Hey Hillbilly! Is it true that you's guy eat opossum down in Kentucky?"

I slowed down but I didn't stop and told him seriously and calmly that yes, of course we ate possum. I looked at him sort of weird as if to say "Doesn't everybody?"

I told him that the stereotype of folks in Kentucky wasn't exactly true. Most of us don't eat possum every day. We can't afford to! Its only the more wealthy hillbillies who can eat possum every day.

I told him there were a lot more people down there now than there use to be. There just wasn't enough possums and squirrels to feed everybody so we also ate pigs and cows and Little Debbie cakes and Moon Pies and stuff like that.

I said all of this with a very exaggerated hillbilly accent. I was playing it up but they thought I was being serious.

This guy and everyone there with him were stone silent and listened to the whole thing. As soon as I stopped talking I turned and continued on my way. They were laughing hysterically behind me. I was thinking to myself, here this guy and his buddies are laughing at the hillbilly, the old backwards funny talking hillbilly. I am here to tell you that I have never in my life heard anyone with as messed up of an accent as that old dude who had never been out of New York City.

It just goes to show you that it's all relative really. And every now and then, while sitting at his favorite bar or cafe, this old dude tells the story about the time he met up with a real live hillbilly and yes, those hillbillies do eat possum.

My Father's Old Gibson J45

Somewhere around 1973 or 1974 there was a man who went down to the music store in Paintsville, Kentucky (on old US 23) and bought a brand new Gibson J45. He then took the guitar home and attempted to hide it. You see his wife 'belonged' to a church that didn't believe in having musical instruments. Musical instruments were tools of the devil.

Somehow his wife discovered the guitar that very same evening. I don't know for sure about all the details of what happened. I was only about 10 or 11 years old and recalling what my dad had told us. But anyway, there was some argument and finally the woman slammed the guitar against the floor or maybe a couch. She then demanded that he get that tool of the devil out of her house immediately.

This guy was a friend of my dad and they saw each other that evening. The man told dad what had happened and dad bought a brand new fresh out of the store $750 Gibson guitar for $100. The side near the bottom and the back were busted up pretty good. Dad pressed it together as best he could and used wood glue to seal it up. It was a bit rough looking but it worked.

Finally there is no longer a need for you to waste your valuable time and energy thinking and forming opinions! We do all the thinking for you which frees you up with more time to do the things you enjoy.

We have all heard about the good old days so there can be no doubt that they once existed. I myself can recall several of them.

Hey! Did you know that if something is new it is automatically better? New things are much smarter, more intelligent and even better looking than older ones. Everybody knows that right? New ideas, new coke, new math, new president, new flavor of chips... new is always so much better and tastier! Wrong! Go on get out of here and collect more experience points before returning to my podium!

You shall not pass lest you be cast into the chasm of eternal stench. However, if you are willing to confess that the old stuff is often the best you are qualified to join the church of the Old School Hat. The good old days can be right now for you if you join the Church of the Old School Hat.

My Opinion Doesnt Always Matter

I was hanging out with one of my buddies at his workplace. He was practicing on his brain surgery techniques at the time and he asked me what my opinion was on whether or not he should cut out this particular chunk or not. He pointed at an area of the patients brain that was somewhat discolored compared to the rest of the jelly grey matter.

I had been drifting off, trying to think about, or at least picture, something other than what was going on in front of me. The smell was awful and the sound from the saw was nearly as bad. I was thinking about what kind of cereal I was going to have for breakfast the next day; Frosted Wheat? Fruity Pebbles? Honeycomb? Grape Nuts? When he suddenly turned around and spoke to me, asking my opinion about his procedure it broke me out of my breakfast cereal reverie and brought me back to the stark reality of the drab laboratory.

"My opinion doesn't matter." It was all I could come up with on such short notice.

"Yes it does! Everyone's opinion matters! Your opinion is just as good as anyone else's."

"I disagree bud. I have some strong opinions about a lot of different things but I know nothing about brain jobs."

"Well, I think everyone's opinion matters. We are all human beings with feelings and so we all matter."

The opinions of the ignorant and uninformed aren't only worthless

Pill Thieves at the Walmart Pharmacy?

Do you think you can trust your pharmacy to give you what you paid for? Well don't take it for granted because I was shorted some Lortabs when I had a prescription filled at Walmart. The number on the label did not match up to the number of pills in the bottle. Pills were missing, where did they go? Here is what happened:

Awhile back I had to go to the dentist and have a tooth cut out. The thing had gotten broken while I was eating popcorn several years back and it had finally gotten to the point where I couldn't live with it any longer. Literally years with recurring toothaches.

The tooth was broken off so short that they had to cut it out. Afterwards I was given a prescription for hydroco/apap which is the generic for Lortab. The prescription was for 28 pills. I dropped the prescription off at the Walmart pharmacy and did some shopping while I waited. Eventually I picked up the medication and we went on home.

I am not a pill person and it takes a lot for me to even take an aspirin or something so a couple weeks went by before I opened the Lortabs. My tooth never did hurt enough for me to use one of the pain pills, but I get migraine headaches occasionally and that was why I finally opened them. The bag was still sealed closed with staples yet when I dumped them out and counted them there were 2 missing! I looked at the label again. Yes, it said "Qty 28" clear as day. I counted the pills again, only 26...

The Sun the Moon and the Truth

"Three things cannot be long hidden:
the sun, the moon, and the truth."

~ Buddha ~
According to Buddha, "Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth." While the quote sounds deep and meaningful it is far from the truth, or 'reality'. Let's just look at it; the sun, the moon and the truth cannot be hidden.

The sun and the moon can sometimes be hidden temporarily by cloud cover or eclipse but for all intents and purposes they cannot really be hidden. But what if a person had been placed in an indoor prison and spent the remainder of their life without ever viewing the outdoors or the sky? Would the moon not be long hidden? In contrast, the truth is all too often hidden whether it be by chance or design.

If the truth were as unhidden as the moon and the sun imagine the vast differences there would be in the world. More often than not the truth comes to us in reflections and in bits and pieces.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly."

I am all for peace and love and being good to your neighbor but I have to disagree with you Buddha. I like your little statues, but comparing the transparency and availability of truth to that of the sun and moon? Every day untold truths are hidden or lost forever.

The Mythical American Buffalo and a Pocketful of Misnomers

The Bison
Look at the face on that thing! man!
The bison is one strange looking critter.
www.livingwilderness.com/wildlife/bison-standing.html
"The Mythical American Buffalo a Pocketful of Misnomers" Now that is tough, try to say that ten times really quick!

Mythical creatures such as the Unicorn, the Dragon and the American Buffalo appear in books, art, songs and even in our religions but have any of them ever really existed?

It may be possible that the unicorn and the dragon once roamed the realm of reality. Perhaps they were all killed out to extinction by mankind long ago. Perhaps they were around so many centuries ago that only distorted memories remain of what they were.

The American Buffalo is a much newer creature. It is also one of the strangest mythical creature cases I know of. Although it does not exist it's existence is common knowledge, at least in the U.S. Sound crazy? Show a photo of a bison to someone, ask them, "What is this here critter?" few will say bison but many will say buffalo.

I was talking to a guy about coins and collecting and he mentioned that he had a bunch of Buffalo Nickels. He got them out and was showing them to me. I mentioned that it was funny how that even though it was common knowledge that the animal was not a buffalo we still called it a Buffalo Nickel. Long story short he disagreed and held that it was in fact a buffalo and I didn't know what I was talking about. OK. I just dropped it. No point in arguing about it. I know what I know but I don't need to preach it. Call it a koala bear nickel if you like.

Candy Cigarettes and Guns for Kids

Yeah, I am getting old(er) so you may hear me say "When I was a kid..." occasionally.

When I was a kid candy cigarettes were popular. The best ones even had a red colored tip so you could better imagine that you were really smoking a cigarette just like mom and dad.

It's really funny how times and people change, not so much individual people but all of us as a culture. Today I wouldn't even consider giving my children candy cigarettes and I doubt there are many parents who would disagree.

Imagine some mother or father standing there smiling, proud and happy. "Aww, look how cute junior is suckin' on that fake candy cigarette." and perhaps their mate replies with, "Oh yes, I can hardly wait to see him learn how to smoke real cigarettes!"

What about all the cool guns? When I was a youngin' we had all sorts of guns to play with. My favorites were the rifles or pistols with a western look but there were also some neat military weapons. Most of them looked pretty realistic and none of them had the big orange tips.

Poor Ole George W the Funniest President Ever

Hello Dummies! I am the Decider Man!
Just recently I watched the movie W. I don't know what happened but I wasn't even aware that there was such a movie until I was sitting back and watching it. If the portrayal of G.W. was  anywhere close to being accurate I felt pity for the guy. Yeah, he was a rich kid who didn't really have much sense but all he ever wanted was for his daddy to love him and to be proud of him. I do think that the movie only touched the surface on how much G.W. (and every prez) was manipulated by the string pullers.

Anyway, I was reading around about some of the things G.W. said and put some of it together here for some laughs.

This might be my all-time favorite Bush quote right here:

"I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." -Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008

That is priceless!

G. W. Bush talks about Osama bin Laden:

Truth Taken for Granted Sheeple and the Lynch Mob Mentality

Another Bag O' Money!
Billions of dollars and thousands of lives have been spent to track down and kill one man. We have all been told that this man was an evil person who was responsible for the deaths of many including the World Trade Center bombing and "9/11". We have been told that this man and his followers were a terrible threat to the peace and safety of the world.
"Bin Laden has been implicated in a string of deadly attacks on the United States and its allies..."
The crowds rejoice about a man being murdered without trial or due process by those that watch over and rule them?

The Truth, The Whole Truth, And Nothing But The Truth?

Source - http://www.gilad.co.uk
Perhaps a lot of what we have been told about bin Laden is true. There can be no doubt that not all of it is true for we have been told conflicting "stories" over the years. And now the interesting position Pakistan finds itself in when the bogeyman is discovered within their camp.

Why dump the body at sea? Will divers find the body? Will we start seeing bin Laden parts offered on eBay? Or did they wait and make sure the sharks had their fill before leaving? People will wonder about this and many other questions for years to come because of the way they got rid of the body. All-new conspiracy theories will be launched and old ones revived.

We sit at home watching TV, surfing the Internet or listening to the radio and we hear about what this person or that country has done. We talk about it at work, school and wherever else we gather. We make our judgments based upon lies, half truths and omissions and we shout "OJ is guilty!" when in reality we know very little or nothing about the actual facts.

Osama bin Laden Has Left the Building

According to the reports Osama bin Laden was killed yesterday (Sunday, May 1) in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The news folks are warning everyone not to travel abroad as there may be some anti-American activity or retaliatory attacks. Warnings of terrorist attacks have also been mentioned.

The interesting thing here is the fact that the place bin Laden was killed was very close to a military base. For years Pakistan has vehemently denied any knowledge of bin Laden's whereabouts and here he was found not just within their borders but next to a military installation.

To make matters even worse the U.S. has given Pakistan close to a billion dollars every year to fight terrorism and to help in the search for bin Laden. This is likely to cause some serious issues between the U.S. and Pakistan.

Bin Laden's death and subsequent disappearance leaves many people with questions. Even though it was reported that genetic testing was done to assure the world this was in fact the man bin Laden I predict that there will be new conspiracy theories springing up to say that bin Laden is in hiding.

Perhaps Bin Laden is hanging out somewhere near Adolf Hitler. Hmmm, speaking of old Adolph isn't it an interesting thing to note that they were both killed on May 1?

Why Do You Think Innocent People Are Held In Prison?

Guantanamo secret files show U.S. often held innocent Afghans

WASHINGTON -- "Naqibullah was about 14 years old when U.S. troops detained him in December 2002 at a suspected militant's compound in eastern Afghanistan.

The weapon he held in his hands hadn't been fired, the troops concluded, and he appeared to have been left behind with a group of cooks and errand boys when a local warlord, tipped to the raid, had fled.

A secret U.S. intelligence assessment written in 2003 concluded that Naqibullah had been kidnapped and forcibly conscripted by a warring tribe affiliated with the Taliban. The boy told interrogators that during his abduction he had been held at gunpoint by 11 men and raped.
